For those who are new to Animux, this section will be dedicated to the Independent "Do-It-Yourself" Animator, hence the name InDIY Artist.

One of the biggest challenges for an Independent film-maker(animation, live-action with FX) is completing the project on the shoe-string budget. Software licensing costs happens to be one of the biggest expense on your project. Our goal has been to reduce this expense $0. We achieved this goal by building Animux which an absolutely free (free as in air) animation/FX production pipeline.

In the past several years, there have been great strides in the development of open source applications; however, for the independent artist, it was quite a task to locate this software, much more so to navigate all the different distributions of Linux and work out compatibility issues.

Animux was born out of the need to have a unified open source operating system that caters to animators.

With the power of open source software and it's supporting community of artists and developers, we believe that this platform will level the playing field and empower the independent animator to eventually compete with the big studios.
