For those who are new to Animux, this section will be dedicated to the Independent "Do-It-Yourself" Animator, hence the name InDIY Artist.

One of the biggest challenges for an Independent film-maker(animation, live-action with FX) is completing the project on the shoe-string budget. Software licensing costs happens to be one of the biggest expense on your project. Our goal has been to reduce this expense $0. We achieved this goal by building Animux which an absolutely free (free as in air) animation/FX production pipeline.

In the past several years, there have been great strides in the development of open source applications; however, for the independent artist, it was quite a task to locate this software, much more so to navigate all the different distributions of Linux and work out compatibility issues.

Animux was born out of the need to have a unified open source operating system that caters to animators.

With the power of open source software and it's supporting community of artists and developers, we believe that this platform will level the playing field and empower the independent animator to eventually compete with the big studios.

Within this section you will find several sub-categories that you may contribute to:

gallery : If you have something that you would like to show off in our showcase, can you please place in the Animux forums. After our review process, the next step is for your work to show up is in our gallery.

showcase: Will introduce upcoming projects nearing completion and other outstanding works either created in Animux or by the tools provided in Animux. Also, the best out of our gallery end up in our showcase.

animuxters 101: Never used Animux before, this is the place for you to start. It will have the basic tutorials to get you up-to-speed on the features and capabilities of Animux. Most of them will be in the form of a screencast or picture book of instructions. (coming very soon.)

animator howtos: Detailed step-by-step tutorials which someday will end up being part of a book or an instructional dvd.

quickies: This we anticipate to be a tag cloud of all the articles, tutorials etc on the animux site which would make it easy for you to quickly find what you need.

r pipeline: All our work and effort should in the end enhance the existing Animux Pipeline. This way we plan on building on a existing good pipeline to meet the demanding needs of an animation studio or to ease the difficulty a animation student might face completing his project.
